Jakarta-Health Observer, Dr. Zainal Abidin, revealed that recently, people with Covid-19 have been carrying out convalescent plasma donor activities. Even a number of government agencies, state-owned enterprises such as the National Police and PT Pertamina also participated in these social activities.
"It (plasma donor activity) is very good and as a social activity," said Zainal Arifin via his gadget, Monday (8/2/2021).
He said, plasma donors from Covid-19 sufferers really helped Covid-19 sufferers. Of course this activity can be an example for other institutions and institutions.
"This is very helpful, because currently many are in need. Not a few sufferers of Covid-19 find it difficult to find it. So the more people who do plasma donors are very good, "he said.
Zainal said that the awareness of plasma donors in Indonesia grew because of their mutual need. Previously, when suffering from Covid-19, they also received a lot of help from other people.
"So the awareness of donating plasma arose after people with Covid-19 were declared cured. I think that's good, because the role of each other is really needed, "he said.
Previously, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Association of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (PHTDI) Dr.dr. Tubagus Djumhana Atmakusuma said that his party is currently making guidelines for the implementation of conventional plasma donor activities. So that the implementation of these activities is in accordance with medical needs.
"The convalescent plasma donors are those who have been exposed to Covid-19 and have recovered," he said.
He admitted that convalescent plasma donor activities by Covid-19 sufferers were good. However, to meet the need for quality antibodies, donors of Covid-19 disease with severe cases must be needed.
"The best plasma donors are people with Covid-19 with severe cases. Because the hope of these donors will produce antibodies that neutralize the Covid-19 virus when it is transfused to Covid-19 sufferers, "he explained.
