Concern for Humanity, Police Survivors of COVID-19 in Probolinggo Participate in Convalescent Plasma Donor Screening

BromoToday.com - Probolinggo - The demand for convalescent plasma in Probolinggo Regency is currently high but difficult to obtain.  This made the police feel touched to conduct a plasma donor screening.

At least 30 survivors of COVID-19 in the Probolinggo Police, consisting of officers and non-commissioned officers, participated in the screening of the feasibility of plasma donors at PMI Probolinggo Regency.

"So those who attend here are not necessarily able to donate their plasma, they have to follow a screening first. After passing, they will also be tested through the laboratory. After fulfilling the new requirements, the plasma can be taken," said the Kab. PMI Officer.  Probolinggop, Sayidil Huddri, told reporters on Wednesday (10/2/2021).

For those who wish to donate plasma, they must go through a screening stage which includes several stages including registration, blood pressure examination, blood sampling and history of disease examination.  After passing the screening stage, the survivors will then have their plasma taken to be given to patients infected with COVID-19 to prevent health deterioration.

Probolinggo Police Chief AKBP Ferdy Irawan who is also known as a covid-19 survivor also took part in carrying out conventional plasma screening activities.

Probolinggo Police Chief said this activity was an effort to support the police to care for humanity because conventional plasma was scarce at this time.

"It is currently quite difficult to find convalescent plasma donors. This plasma donor is not as easy as blood donors because it has to go through screening. I along with 29 members who are COVID-19 survivors volunteered and were moved to participate in plasma donor screening," said Ferdy.  .

The Head of Probolinggo Police hopes that when convalescent plasma is obtained, it can be prioritized for members of the police who are confirmed positive for COVID-19 and the public or patients who need convalescent plasma.

"After participating in the screening, the blood sample will be sent to the laboratory to ensure that the person concerned is fit to follow the plasma collection process at the PMI office in the next few days," said Ferdy.
