Reviewing Labor Vaccinations, National Police Chief Asks Workers to Continue to Monitor Government Programs to Realize Herd Immunity

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo directly inspected the vaccination implementation at PT Epson, EJIP Region, South Cikarang, Bekasi, Wednesday (4/8). This activity is the initiation of the National Police Headquarters in collaboration with the Federation of Metal Workers Union (FSPMI).

 The National Police Chief admitted that he was proud of the active role of workers in helping the government in the vaccination program through cooperation in accelerating mass vaccination as an effort to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, the National Police Chief requested that the labor element continue to oversee the Government's program to realize Herd Immunity against the corona virus.

 "Our plan is to reduce approximately 25 thousand (vaccine doses) for the first phase. And we will gradually increase it according to need," said the National Police Chief in his remarks.

 The National Police Chief said that there are two main things that must be considered in efforts to control the Covid-19 pandemic, namely the safety of the people and on the one hand the economy.

 The National Police Chief emphasized that there are things that must be taken care of so that the two can run because health and economic issues cannot be separated.

 Therefore, continued Sigit, in an effort to maintain public health, especially workers, to avoid exposure to the corona virus, by enforcing strict health protocols and regulations related to working mechanisms, one of which is massive vaccination.

 "So that our fellow workers continue to take care of their health, because we know that the main source of income for the country is exports. And fellow workers are heavily involved in this activity, therefore our fellow workers as heroes of foreign exchange must be guarded," he said. Police chief.

 The National Police Chief then wants the elements of workers to participate in disseminating vaccinations to fellow workers, so that it will accelerate the formation of group immunity or herd immunity so that the new normal life can immediately apply.

 "Invite his friends who still don't want the vaccine. So of course we hope that we can return to a new normal situation after herd immunity is formed," concluded the National Police Chief.

 Meanwhile, the President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) Said Iqbal who was present at the event expressed his gratitude for the precision vaccination program that targets workers. Iqbal said that more than 10 percent of workers in Indonesia were exposed to Covid, even hundreds of workers had died due to exposure to the virus.

 "Therefore, at least KSPI welcomes and is grateful for the quick response from the government, in this case the precision vaccine program by the police is to answer what we have said about the Covid issue," said Iqbal.
