East Java Police Chief when checking Vaccination: I am Proud to be an Alumni of SMPN 1 Surabaya

The East Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Nico Afinta, together with the Main Officer of the East Java Regional Police, checked the implementation of the second dose of Merdeka vaccination at SMP Negeri 1 Surabaya, Thursday (12/8/2021).

The implementation of the Independent Vaccination is intended for students of SMPN 1 Surabaya who carry out the second phase of the vaccine, with the vaccine target achieving 1000 doses of vaccine. In addition, this vaccination activity is supported by a joint health workforce, consisting of 10 personnel from the National Police vaccination officer, 10 personnel from the Health Office and 25 personnel from Volunteers.

During his visit, East Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Nico Afinta also motivated all students in East Java, especially at SMPN 1 Surabaya, to make this vaccination program a success. It is hoped that herd immunity can be formed soon so that school students can return to face-to-face learning in accordance with government decisions.

"My brothers and sisters, I don't feel that I used to study here from 1983 to 1986, this school passed a lot of people who are now mostly involved in government, medicine, or in other things that are very proud," he said accompanied by Head of the East Java Regional State Intelligence Agency (Kabinda), Surabaya Police Chief, and Surabaya Mayor.

"I am very proud to be an alumni of SMPN 1, of course what you are doing now is the next level. I take the saying, what you got today, because yesterday, and what you get later, it's because of today," explained Kapolda who is also an alumni of SMPN 1 Surabaya.

Furthermore, the East Java Regional Police Chief encourages students to continue to study well, according to the Regional Police Chief, this is one of the provisions to tread higher trails. So a process does require struggle.

"Keep your spirits up with three things, I'm short for MANTAP. Which means Faith, Willingness, and Knowledge. A person can progress if he can be equipped with STRONG," he said.

The Kapolda explained, MANTAP in these three cases has different meanings. First, don't forget to increase your faith, for example, if you are Muslim, you pray, if you are Christian, you go to church. It is more strengthened, because our lives cannot be separated from the power of God Almighty.

Then the second is willpower. So you must have a strong will in advancing yourself, because people who have a strong will, as the saying goes, hang your dreams as high as the sky.

"So, if you want to go to SMAN 5, SMAN 2, or, whichever high school you want, you have to have the will," he said.

Then the third is the problem of knowledge. Knowledge is provision. So this school is the next phase, to gain knowledge. With a lot of knowledge, then we can easily solve problems.

"Problems cannot be solved without knowledge. So good knowledge will definitely be able to solve problems well," he explained when he gave motivation to students at SMPN 1 Surabaya.

"I am proud to be an alumni of SMPN 1 Surabaya, I am also proud to be here, meet the principal, meet the Mayor of Surabaya, Mr Kabinda, and all of you. I thank you, and we support the implementation of this vaccination to run well ," he concluded.

After providing motivation, the East Java Police Chief also provided social assistance in the form of medical equipment in the form of masks, hand sanitizers and oximeters to the principal of SMPN 1 Surabaya.
