Accelerate Vaccination, National Police Chief Affirms Ready to Cooperate with All Parties

The National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo reviewed the COVID-19 mass vaccination program initiated by the Precision Village Unit (UDP) of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) IPB, Inspira Activists (Youth Organizations), and the National Police Headquarters.

The implementation of this vaccination was carried out at the Graha Widya Wisuda Building, Campus of IPB Bogor. It was carried out for 2 days, namely August 3 and 4, 2021.

"Today I am very grateful for the opportunity given by the Chancellor and also fellow youth organizations and also IPB students who gave us the opportunity to work together in order to accelerate vaccination which is part of the government's program in order to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic," he said. Listyo told reporters, Tuesday (3/8/2021).

Listyo said that the current number of COVID-19 in Indonesia is still quite high despite a national decline. For this reason, he emphasized that hard work is needed so that Indonesia is quickly free from the COVID-19 pandemic, one of which is through acceleration of vaccination.

"In the Bogor area which is a buffer for the capital city, it is very important to work on it quickly because the figure is still around 16 percent so it needs acceleration and we hope that by taking advantage of this independence day, acceleration of vaccination can be carried out," he said.

The former Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police hopes that vaccination activities will increase day by day. For people who are still afraid to take vaccinations, he asked not to be afraid anymore.

"I urge you to vaccinate in order to increase the immunity of your brothers and sisters in the face of COVID. Therefore, do not hesitate to vaccinate because all countries implement it. So for citizens who are in doubt, this is for our good and for the common good," he said.

No less important than vaccination, he asked residents to continue to implement strict health protocols (prokes) as a strategy to prevent transmission. Because by wearing a mask, Listyo said it would be safer, both infecting and contracting.

Another activity currently being implemented by the government is the implementation of PPKM levels 1 to 4. According to Listyo, this is done to maintain the growth rate of COVID.

By maintaining progress and accelerating vaccinations, the former Banten Police Chief said he could reduce PPKM levels. With the decline in the PPKM level, he said there would be flexibility for community activities.

"The impact is that economic activity increases and economic growth increases. Let's run the vaccine in droves and keep wearing masks," he said.

On this occasion, he invited all parties, including youth organizations, BEM alliances, mass organizations and communities to work together to accelerate vaccination.

The vaccination targets held at the IPB Bogor Campus are the general public, IPB students, and Granita (IPB employees). The stock of vaccine prepared in this activity is 5,000 doses of the Sinovac type, using the vaccine stock of the National Police, Bogor District Health Office, and IPB.

The vaccinator officers involved in this activity were 50 vaccinators combined from the National Police Health Center, the Bogor Police Dokkes and the IPB Polyclinic.

In addition to vaccination activities, 2,000 social assistance packages will also be distributed to the general public affected by COVID-19.
