Preventing Radical Understanding, Sidoarjo Police Holds FGD Attended by the National Police's Public Relations Division Team

SIDOARJO - In the context of Preventing the Countermeasures of Radicalism and Terrorism, the Sidoarjo Police, held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) at the Multipurpose Building, Sidoarjo, Tuesday (9/3/21)

 The FGD with the theme "Terrorism is our Common Enemy" was attended by related agencies such as Bakesbangpol Sidoarjo Regency, Head of the Sidoarjo Regency Ministry of Religion.

 With a strict Health Protocol, the FGD was also attended by religious leaders in Sidoarjo Regency, namely, the Chairperson of the PC NU in Sidoarjo Regency, the Chairperson of PD Muhammadiyah in Sidoarjo Regency and the Chairperson of the MWC NU in Sidoarjo Regency.

 In addition, attending the FGD, this time the Head of Sidoarjo Police, Kombes Pol Sumardji, Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Kombes Pol. Ahmad Ramadhan, Head of Public Relations of the East Java Regional Police, Kombes Pol Gatot Repli Handoko, East Java Police Intelligence Director, BNPT (Densus 88 ATT), and former terrorist Muhammad Yusuf with Sahrul Munib, as resource persons.

 The arrival of the Police Public Relations Division Team in East Java, especially at the Sidoarjo Regency Police, was in order to see firsthand the counter-radical activities held by the East Java Regional Police and its staff.

 When giving his speech, Kombes Pol Ahmad Ramadhan stated that this discussion focused on fighting terrorism and preventing radicalism from entering Indonesia. Especially in Sidoarjo, East Java.

 Kombes Ahmad also revealed that the FGD activity was held to provide resistance to radical ideologies which are the seeds of acts of terrorism in Indonesia.

 "Because this radical understanding can grow and develop and can affect society," said Kombes Ahmad.

 As is known, at some time ago, the National Police Headquarters released 22 suspected terrorists who were arrested in East Java, one of the locations for their arrest was in Sidoarjo Regency, who previously arrested terrorists in Makassar, Gorontalo and Lampung.

 Kombes Ahmad added that there are two terrorist network groups in Indonesia, namely the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) and Jemaah Islamyah networks.

 The Jamaah Islamyah terrorist group or network is affiliated with the Alkaidah terrorist group, while the Jamaah JAD terrorist group is affiliated with ISIS.

 According to Kombes Ahmad, Terrorists and radicals are like sleeping cells that one day will wake up and wake up and endanger many people.

 This also added Kombes Ahmad, that there is a need for prevention patterns that must be carried out by the National Police by looking for preventive and preventive measures against radicalism and terrorism in Indonesia.

 It is hoped that community leaders will be able to jointly help combat acts of terrorism in Indonesia.

 "So with our activities today, it is hoped that we can prevent and instill community resilience so as not to be exposed to radicalism," concluded Kombes Ahmad.
