BromoToday.com - Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono, confirmed that the chain message alias boadcast message containing information on DKI Jakarta will be a total lockdown on February 12 to 15, 2021, a hoax alias fake.
"That this broadcast is not true, this broadcast is wrong, with an incorrect broadcast it will have a negative impact on anyone," said Argo during a press statement with the Ministry of Health in Jakarta, Friday (5/2).
As for the chain message, Argo explained that it contained information that President Joko Widodo had decided the lockdown or total closure of the Capital City.
The message also appealed to the public to provide food, as long as the lockdown is in effect. According to Argo, the message also contained information that the police would immediately arrest and carry out a swab for those known to be outside the house.
"Indeed, the content is normal, but the content can incite slander, and then the hoax will target people's emotions and then generate negative opinions which cause uproar in society and the nation's integration," said Argo.
Regarding this hoax, Argo explained, the National Police had handled a total of 352 cases of hoax news spreading. In the chain message case, he reminded the perpetrators of the potential threats and punishments they received.
According to him, the perpetrator could be threatened with imprisonment of up to 10 years through a number of articles and laws. Some of them, such as Article 28 paragraph 1 of Law 11/2008, concerning ITE. There is also the Criminal Code Article 14 paragraph 1, 2, and three.
