East Java Police Chief Formulates Hoax Fighting, Before Entering the Criminal Domain

SURABAYA - The Head of the East Java Police, Inspector General Pol Nico Afinta and the Main Officials of the East Java Regional Police received an audition from the Indonesian Cyber Media Association (AMSI), on Tuesday afternoon (23/2/2021) in the corridor of the East Java Regional Police Tribrata Building.

On this occasion, the Head of the East Java Police, Inspector General Pol Nico Afinta hopes that in the future there will be a body that focuses on handling Hoax News. Amsi could be part of the Criminal Justice System in it.

"I want AMSI to be part of the formation of a body that becomes our Criminal Justice System so that not every hoax news is subject to criminal proceedings," he said.

Furthermore, the Head of the East Java Police explained that if it was related to reporting, there was an assessment first, there was learning, education, and regulations that had to be conveyed.

If it is Ultimum remedium, and it really is related to reporting, then punishment is the last means before all systems work.

"After this meeting I asked for a meeting with AMSI friends, PWI, the association of telecommunications service providers, to formulate a body formation, to filter and research, so that hoax news does not enter the realm of crime first," added the East Java Regional Police Chief.

According to the East Java Regional Police Chief, this agency needs to be formed then the regulations can be arranged by the regional head.

Local governments have a public relations department structure, so the Press Law exists, the IT Law exists. Later AMSI will be part of it, then the way it works will be destroyed, "added Inspector General of Police Nico Afinta.
